Jonathon Cahn: Word or Warning?

By Jeff Toler – November 20, 2016

In a video originally posted September 26th 2015 on YouTube, Jonathon Cahn, President of Hope of the World Ministries and author of Harbinger, was recorded preaching this message before the Family Research Council at their Values Voter Summit in 2015. What makes it interesting are the illustrations and prophetic teaching that carry even more weight today than they did just one year earlier. It’s probably no accident it was recently republished following the election.

Jonathon can “preach it” as evangelicals might say, and his message is filled with correlations and comparisons based on years of training as a Jewish scholar and Rabbi. He is a Messianic Jew, and characteristically of many Jewish converts, Cahn is filled with zeal and conviction. But he has been criticized by some Christian scholars as a false teacher for his devotion to end-times messaging and worse, comparing Israel prophecy – as found Isaiah 9:10, to America today, as this sermon is clearly aimed at doing.

The most and thoughtful response to Harbinger, and Cahn by extension, can be found from Lighthouse Trails Research. Their conclusion will interest those striving for discerning and thoughtful analysis.

Regardless, this is a compelling sermon and really worth watching. As for national repentance? Perhaps, but what matters most is individual repentance, which we at SCA earnestly pray for.

Jonathon Leeman: “Christians and Government”

By Jeff Toler – November 20, 2016

“These are the times that try men’s souls.” And, “Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered.” *

Thomas Paine couldn’t know the half of it these days. There have been few times in my life I have ever seen such polarity and bitter acrimony within America like I’ve seen and heard in the last two weeks. The jaw-dropping, vitriolic, hysterical screeds from the acolytes of the far-left are amazing, and frankly very ominous. And that’s just on my Facebook. The headlines and bleats from the 24-hour news channels are getting outright insane. If I were just a casual observer, I would think that America is losing its mind.

Maybe it is. But what is the Church contributing to the dialogue (if you can call it that) in these times?

SCA is a Christian association – an alliance of thoughtful and concerned Christian men engaged in spiritual, scriptural, and patriotic contention for the soul and souls of our nation. Right now, our focus is informing the people of Virginia and beyond of the serious, but largely misunderstood threat from Islamic refugee resettlement in America. SCA is NOT dealing in islamophobia. We do not advocate for confrontation or aggression. We are not angry, white nationalists. We prefer instead to present the facts – the truth, and campaign to bring to light the unjustified, largely secret effort by foreign powers to unlawfully interfere with our population.

That’s why we encourage and endorse the efforts to bring good, solid Biblical teaching to our readers and to the equipping of the saints; not just cultural criticism.

Jonathon Leeman of 9Marks, and an elder at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC has produced a timely, brilliant 13-week course, published online on “Christians and Government.”

Currently, 9Marks, the organization devoted to improving and promoting strong Biblical principles to healthy church life and growth is presenting a 13-week series by Jonathon Leeman on the relationship between Church and Government.

The course represents some of the best teaching on this subject currently available. To find it freely available online is simply divine in timing and inspiration. One of the greatest truths largely without dispute for nearly two centuries is the history of our nation and the relationship to God and His Church. This 13-week course is a refreshing and welcome treat. Please spend time there regularly. You will not be disappointed.

When the faithful really understand how to give a thoughtful defense of their faith and engage intelligently in the greatest debate of our times, we can be the salt and light Jesus tells us we are to be.

The God Factor

By Jeff Toler – November 20, 2016

Writing for The Christian Post, Brandon Showalter, in a November 10, 2016 report, quotes Franklin Graham from his Facebook post: “Did God show up? In watching the news after the election, the secular media keep asking ‘How did this happen?’ ‘What went wrong?’ ‘How did we miss this?’

“Some are in shock. Political pundits are stunned. Many thought the Trump/Pence ticket didn’t have a chance. None of them understand the God-factor.

The God Factor. It sounds like a movie starring Tom Hanks. But Graham is a making serious claim; this from the man who announced his departure from the Republican Party but a few months ago. But it apparently the “godless, atheistic progressive agenda” required God’s divine intervention in this election.

He may be right considering the complete shock and surprise many expressed following the historic election that ushered in Trump; the same man so many evangelicals found so problematic and so un-presidential.

“President-elect Donald J. Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence are going to need a lot of help and they will continue to need a lot of prayer.”

We agree. Prayer for not only for the president and his team, but for a deeply divided America and the days ahead that will inevitably bring new insanity from the media. Now that they know how completely they underestimated the size and scope of the people in this country who have finally grown tired and wary of their bias, the media will stop at nothing.
