Emperor Constantine opposed him. Anti-Christ Arians hated him. Emperor Constantius II ordered him banished. Emperors Julian the Apostate and Valens (who denied Jesus was God’s Son) exiled him. The world in 366 A.D. vilified this man who anathematized speculation on the Deity of Christ that contradicted the Original Apostles (1 John 1:1-5).
Who was this man? He was Athanasius, a rugged, biblical individualist. “The whole world is against you!” exclaimed a colleague. Unperturbed, Athanasius replied, “Then it is Athanasius against the world!”
Fast forward to the early 21st Century. A non-lawmaking Supreme Court won a temporary battle against God. My former bank, Wells Fargo, celebrates same-sex marriage. Sacred marriage is blasphemed. Media outrage exists against those who warn us of an infiltration of foreign terrorists. It is not unthinkable that Congressional law can be replaced by Sharia Law. Dating becomes mating. Virtue is reduced to the morals of a jackrabbit crossed with a billy goat. We have lost our identity as individuals. The trend is toward an Eastern or European socialistic control of the masses. The sodomy agenda is force fed to children. The “church” nestles in tidy sanctuaries. Ministers fear loss of tax exemptions.
God’s workman “rightly divides” God’s Word in context. Jesus said, “My words will never pass away.” The devil knows this. The “trembling” demons believe The Word. Satan knows it, teaches demonic doctrines and flees when judged by The Word. The devil cannot prevent it. His strategy is to use The Word “out of context.” This way he can deceive more souls than a hundred atheists.
We are told, “Render unto Caesar” means we are to accept man-made laws. When Kim Davis took her “oath of office,” marriage was governed by God’s Natural law. In context, Jesus was talking about paying taxes. Context did not teach Jesus justifying the sin of sodomy.
We are told, “Cast not the first stone.” Using this verse to justify sodomy is a serious violation of context. Jesus did not tolerate sin: He forgave it. What we are not told by the liberal Sin Party is Jesus said, “Do not keep sinning.” Jesus is not giving the woman a lesbian marriage certificate. Jesus saves FROM sins, not IN sins. Before salvation, Kim Davis had four husbands. The woman at the well had five husbands, plus a “live-in.” She brought the whole city to meet One who knew her heart. It was not what she USED to be, rather what she now WAS that counted.
The Sin Party uses a half argument, “Jesus did not come to condemn the world.” Read the other half: “There is one who condemns you, MOSES” (John 5:45). Who is the hater? Is it the compassionate soul winner who snatches sinners from the fire (Jude 23)? The real hater is the self-righteous, Christ-crucifying soul who justifies sin. Christ’s atonement saves. The Law of Moses still condemns us. Washington or Richmond cannot change God’s LAW. Peter and John said, “We obey God, not man.”
Even the conservatives are against us. Cal Thomas justified sodomy. His argument – there are two kingdoms and they are in conflict. This means that Christ’s Kingdom and the devil’s kingdom are equal. Therefore we sit back and wait for something to happen. I categorically defy such reasoning.
Christ destroyed the Devil’s works. Christ’s Kingdom is forever. The prophetic aorist exclaims, “The world’s kingdoms become the Kingdoms of Christ!” The devil’s head is bruised. The Devil fell from heaven. The devil is bound with the gospel chain. The devil is stripped naked. He is king of the pit (not heaven). Death has been destroyed. We fear not the devil’s hell. For the elect, the accusing devil has been “silenced.” He has a short time before his destiny, the Lake of Fire.
Kim Davis was right, “This issue is a matter of heaven and hell.” Like the children of God in Goshen and those in Egypt, God draws a dividing line between “saved” and “lost.” Among sins, sodomy is an “abomination” test for us today.
We are more than conquerors! We are a city on a hill. We are light. We are leaven and salt. The devil tempted a hungry Jesus, but Jesus answered, “Man lives by THE WORD, not bread alone.” The devil tempted Him through vainglory, “Cast yourself down. The angels will help, lest you stumble.” Satan wanted Christ to tempt God. The devil said, “I will give you the world’s kingdoms. Just worship me.” Jesus used Scripture: “Worship God! Him only shall you serve.” My angel has a little New Testament in hand. Placing one foot on the land and the other on the sea, He swears with his hand raised to Heaven, “Time shall be no more.” Those who have brought immoral reproach upon this nation will soon be gone. Christ’s throne remains forever.
Yes, like Athanasius “The world is against us!” So be it. WE ARE AGAINST THE WORLD! Even though over 50 million Americans voted for tradition marriage, we have godless leadership from Washington to most local politicians and judgeships. This is due to our Machiavellian State with Joseph Goebbels type media propaganda. But there is a victory that overcomes the world (I John 5:4).
