I believe every generation has its defining moments which call for men and women to make great sacrifices in order to beat back the advances of evil. For many years, the church as a whole in America, has enjoyed its prosperity and privilege and has neglected her responsibility. I have heard the despair of many Christians who, like myself, felt betrayed by the recent decision of the Supreme Court to redefine marriage. My hope is that this will be our defining moment as we are certain to face even more hostility, prejudice, and discrimination in the days ahead. While the television sitcoms and social media, as well as mainstream media, continue to mock Christianity and blasphemously try to reinvent the person of Jesus Christ, much like a Goliath mocking Israel and God, Himself, the question for us is the same as David asked his Brothers: “…is there not a cause?” (1 Sam 17:29). I believe our light shines brightest in the darkness and the blood bought saints of God have an opportunity to heap up treasure in Heaven. To quote Churchill, “this will be our finest hour”.

We have a distinct advantage over non-Believers in every way and, like David had the Sons of Issachar who understood the times and knew what Israel should do (1 Chron 12:32), we also have divine wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit. God has told us the end from the beginning and He said His counsel shall stand (Isa 46:9-10). God warned us in Romans, chapter one, that if a society as a whole, does not honor God as Creator, that He would turn it over to a debased mind, with vile passions man for a man and woman for a woman forsaking the natural purpose of the union between a man and woman. Therefore, it should not come as any shock to Bible-believing Christians that this day should come since we have been denying God as Creator and teaching secular humanism and evolution for decades via “The Scopes Monkey Trial”.

The Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same sex unions and try to force us to accept this mirage as a legitimate alternative to God’s original declaration of the marriage is absurd. One can have certain sexual organs added or removed and have hormone therapy treatments, but it does not change the DNA of their birth origin. The DNA still dictates their gender, not what gender they feel they are. Likewise, the Supreme Court and the accepting non-Biblical churches, as well as the culture in general, can embrace a new definition of marriage, but it does not change what God calls and accepts as marriage based on its origin. Jesus clearly defines the DNA, if you will, of Marriage between one man and one woman as He made them in the beginning (see Matt 19:4-6).  Though Heaven and earth should pass away, God’s Word will remain, for it is established forever. Therefore, let God be true and every man a liar.

The question then is, “What do we do about it?” First of all, we are told in Scripture to overcome evil with good. If our intention is to teach someone a lesson or exact revenge, it will be to no avail. If it is to lift a veil of darkness and see people set free, then it will have God’s blessing. I believe there will be massive fallout and collateral damage from the confusion caused by trying to accept that which goes against nature. I believe that many people in America are conflicted from within seeking to find a purpose or identity. Before we, the church, can be a guiding light we must also find our identity, which, of course, is in Christ Jesus. We must become salt and light again and begin to stand upon the solid Rock and firm foundation of the Word of God. In doing so, it is my hope that many will join me and countless others who have affirmed the words of the great reformer, Martin Luther, who said: “It is here I stand, and I can do no other.” Together we can lift the veil of darkness and restore hope to believers and families everywhere. We must be wise as serpents but gentle as doves. The gates of hell shall not prevail against His church. I want to encourage anyone who is concerned about the future of America to attend a good Bible-believing church and get involved because strong churches produce strong families, and strong families make for strong communities, which in turn makes for a strong united nation under God. As a Christian who understands that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world, I look forward to victory by putting on the full armor of God and having done all this, then standing in the evil days. God will punish all rebellion and wickedness as promised in 2 Pet 2:5-9:

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;  and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)– then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment.

Jesus said He is with us always even to the end of the age. But be of good cheer, for He has already overcome this world.
